What is Neurofeedback Biofeedback EEG?

Clinically used in the treatment of Anxiety and Mood Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, Substance Abuse, Migraine Headache and other physiological and psychological problems, neurofeedback (also called EEG biofeedback) training is brainwave training. Neurofeedback looks at the brain as a bioelectric system: large neural networks firing in a coordinated manner. Problems in brain coordination are analogous to the spark plugs in a car not firing properly. A “dysregulation” occurs, and the brain does not function properly.

Ordinarily, we have no real control over our brainwave patterns because we are not aware of them enough to effect change. However, by seeing our brainwaves on a computer screen in real time, we can learn to influence them in a positive way. Neurofeedback training helps the brain balance and regulate itself.

California BrainWorks provides access to the latest cutting edge technology in EEG Biofeedback/Neurofeedback. With recent discoveries in the field of neuroplasticity (modifying brain functioning), it is now known that we can change the way our brains work and process information, emotions and other input. Clinical neurofeedback creates a healing environment for the brain.

“In my opinion, if any medication had demonstrated such a wide spectrum of efficacy, it would be universally accepted and widely used…”

Frank H. Duffy, M.D., Professor and Pediatric Neurologist at Harvard Medical School

“For some applications–epilepsy, attention deficit disorder, and closed head injuries–a number of studies and much anecdotal evidence indicate neurofeedback is effective. Other research shows it may help treat chronic substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. For other conditions, such as Tourette’s syndrome, sleep disorders, depression, and autism, individual case studies are glowing… ‘The phenomenon is robust,’ insists Siegfried Othmer, Ph.D.”
